Whaaat!! Christmas in winter?! How can this be?
Isn’t Christmas usually designated for December? Well, not in Tulbagh! This year on Saturday/Sunday June 23/24 the people of Tulbagh are once again hanging up the mistletoe and welcoming all the good girls and boys to come and visit their beautiful town. Being from the states, South Africa’s summertime Christmas makes us miss the sentimental ‘chilly feel‘ of snowflakes, cosy fires, and Christmas jumpers. But Tulbagh does a great job at capturing those magical Christmas moments that weren’t possible with a Christmas in summer.
We can’t wait to see the shops and wineries deck out their establishments with all the trimmings to show their Christmas spirit. Arts and crafts are highlighted in the town along with face painting and pony rides for the kids. We would be lying if we didn’t tell you how much we look forward to Christmas, especially the traditional Christmas foods. If you love it too and are looking for some festive ideas to get a head start on your holiday plans, with some wine, cheese and olive tasting in between, (and maybe a museum tour or two) then this festival has to be on your Christmas ‘Wish List’! We’ll see you there, and later on at the Bike Forge where they will again be holding a Winterland Blues Festival!
