Zia Cottage is a family-owned business established in 2023. Our goal is to provide a calm and serene atmosphere through which daily challenges can be tempered with peace and tranquility, allowing one to live in harmony.
The cottage is uniquely nestled at the base of the beautiful Witzenberg Mountains with two streams running through the property, a rustic fire pit nestled in the forest just meters from the cottage, and is protected from winds no matter their direction.
With spectacular views, the cottage is in an area where guests can engage in activities such as hiking, cycling/mountain biking, and fishing. For those not as adventurous, a smart flat screen television is available (containing DSTV, Netflix, Prime Video, Spotify, and You Tube) with free wi-fi.
Each season brings about a different picturesque beauty, especially in winter where one might see snow on the Witzenberg and Ceres mountains.

OUR COTTAGE HAS HIKING AND MOUNTAIN BIKING TRAILS
The secluded Tulbagh Valley, being surrounded on three sides by the Groot Winterhoek, Witzenberg and Obiqua mountains, provides the perfect backdrop for hiking or mountain biking. There are over sixteen kilometres of trails accessible directly from Zia cottage that wind throughout the fynbos and pine forests at the base of the beautiful Witzenberg Mountains. These are private and infrequently used so be sure to bring your cell phone for emergencies, and of course a camera for all the great photo ops along the way!
RENT OUR MOUNTAIN BIKES
Are you travelling without your bikes, new to mountain biking or just want to try something different? At Zia Cottage you will be able to rent one of our four MTBs to discover the area on two wheels. Whether a placid trek on the farm roads, a small challenge on hilly terrain, or a more demanding cross-hill tour, our fleet of great rental bikes will help you get out on the trails. In addition to our bikes, helmets are included to keep you safe on your ride.
Book in advance to make sure the bikes are prepared and ready upon your arrival. Our current routes include sixteen kilometres of trails with a variety of difficulty levels and are available on our website. All start directly from Zia Cottage to allow easy access on and off the trail network.

THINGS TO DO
If you are considering staying at Zia Cottage or have already booked your accommodation, then you are probably keen to see what activities are available and what there is to do in our area. Located between the cities of Ceres, Tulbagh, and Worster, Zia Cottage offers a vast assortment of activities, for the adventurous to the more relaxed visitors.
THE COTTAGE
Boasting an expansive fenced garden with a large entertainment patio, Zia Cottage provides loads of space for sports activities and relaxation. The cottage sleeps six and consists of three bedrooms, one with an en suite bathroom, a living room, a dining room, a fully equipped modern farmhouse kitchen, laundry facilities, and a warm outdoor shower. Portable beds can allow for two more guests if needed. Towels and bed linen are of course provided. A large spring water jacuzzi, indoor fireplace, and an outdoor covered braai adds warmth and gathering places to the cottage. With the entire cottage being located on one level, the property is completely wheelchair accessible including a roll-in shower. To ensure a comfortable stay during load shedding, the cottage is equipped with a gas stove/water heaters and battery backup.

Owner David, has a comfortable and modern Mercedes Vito minibus which can accommodate up to nine passengers. While local wine estate and game reserve are popular trips, his services include airport transfers (areas include to and from Wolseley, Ceres, Tulbagh, Riebeeck Kasteel, Wellington and Paarl) wedding transport, and day trips to coastal restaurants.
